Publication Fees (APC)

PIRJ is committed to a transparent and equitable Article Processing Charge (APC) model that supports high-quality publishing while remaining accessible to scholars worldwide.

The APC Model

There are no submission fees at PIRJ. Authors only pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) after their manuscript has been peer-reviewed and formally accepted for publication. This fee covers digital hosting, long-term archiving, DOI registration, and editorial processing.

Tiered Pricing Structure

PIRJ uses a tiered model based on World Bank Country Income Classifications to ensure equity for authors from various economic regions:

High-Income Countries

USD $150

Standard processing rate.

Upper-Middle Income

USD $120

Discounted scholarly rate.

Lower-Middle Income

USD $60–$80

Adjusted for regional parity.

Low-Income Countries

USD $40–$60

Highly subsidized rate.

Waivers and Hardship Policy

PIRJ provides full or significant waivers for authors from sanctioned regions, conflict zones, or scholars who demonstrate genuine financial hardship. Requests for waivers must be made during the initial submission process and are evaluated independently of editorial decisions.

Institutional Coverage

Many institutions provide funding to cover APCs for open-access publishing. Authors are encouraged to check with their university library or research office for available support.
